Among the more common questions we are asked at Proactive Pest Control is “how long does pest control take?”. While we can’t give an exact period, we can give a general idea – so here we answer this and the four other most common questions we get asked when it comes to our pest control treatments.
How Long Does Pest Control Take?
We will send you a pre-treatment checklist for completion before we come to your property.
When we arrive, we conduct a walkthrough inspection to check for signs of pest infestation, and we will discuss the treatment process and requirements.
So, how long does the treatment itself take? This will, to an extent, depend on the size of your house. The average pest control treatment application will take up to an hour – and we can give you a closer estimate of this when you book with us.
In a large furnished home, pest control treatments for fleas, cockroaches, and spiders inside and outdoors could take up to a couple of hours to complete.
If the home is vacant (i.e. after selling, before moving in, or for an exit spray at the end of a tenancy), pest control treatments are considerably quicker to complete.
If our inspection of your property uncovers evidence of rats or mice, we will also supply you with rodent baits.
Some circumstances will require a follow-up visit from us. If we uncover a large infestation, it may dictate the need for a second application of pest control treatment so that we can guarantee effective results. Likewise, if we discover termites, this will also require further action.
Do You Treat Indoors and Outdoors?
Yes! We treat both your home’s interior and exterior so that we can guarantee all cockroaches, ants, and spiders are stopped in their tracks.
Are the Chemicals Safe for Pets and Children?
Yes. Your safety is our top priority.
We will provide plenty of information about the safety of our products and processes when we come to your home. Please advise us in advance if you have anyone in your household who experiences allergies or sensitivities so we can check our product ingredients against these.
We do ask that you, your family members, and your pets vacate the property if possible while we undertake the treatment process. In most cases, you can come back in as soon as the spray has dried completely – it’s usually just a few minutes, but this can take up to an hour if it is a cold, wet day.
Please notify us in advance if you have a fish pond or similar so that we can protect your aquatic life.
Do You Give a Service Guarantee?
Yes, we do. We warrant all of our pest control (cockroach, ant, spider) treatments for upto a year after treatment completion. (Please contact us for details on our warranties for termites and other pests.)
When Do I Need to Do it Again?
Unlike many of our competitors, we are committed to taking a proactive rather than reactive approach to ongoing pest control. This means getting on top of problems before they have an opportunity to occur. As such, we work on an annual schedule for general pest treatments. These treatments cover Cockroaches, Spiders, and Ants. Other pests like silverfish, fleas, wasps, bed bugs, rodents, etc are addressed on an as-needed basis. We also recommend regular, scheduled termite inspections to keep your home and family safe.
With Proactive Pest Solutions, you don’t need to remember when your home or other premises is due for a general pest treatment or termite inspection! We do the hard work for you, keeping you in our database and, when the time is coming that you are due for us to visit, we will give you a call.
